HOSTED BY: Sam Maciag | PUBLISHED: March 31st, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. | CBC News Saskatchewan, Blue Sky
Our executive director, Bridgit O’Brien joins Blake Tait of Saskatoon Pride, J. Skelton an Associate Professor of Queer Studies in Education at the University of Regina and host Sam Maciag to discuss on a podcast the 2025 political climate for 2SLGBTQ people, particularly the increased political attention and conflict surrounding transgender people by our southern neighbours in the USA and how it’s impacted Canada. This interview highlights the tension between the importance of being visible and the reality that visibility can sometimes come with concerns about safety and discrimination.
This interview also discusses the importance of celebrating trans-joy, which intersects with authenticity and feeling accepted in your circle and community.
