UR Pride, URSU reach $225K settlement in lawsuit over withheld student fees

UR Pride and the University of Regina Students' Union (URSU) have settled, finalizing and ending a legal dispute between the two parties that has been ongoing since February 2025. This settlement covers withheld student fees held by URSU during their time at the U of R. Under the settlement reached, UR Pride will receive $225,000, which should allow for greater financial stability for the UR Pride Centre. Funds will be allocated to supporting and advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ students on campus, in Regina, and across Saskatchewan and covering operational costs of the UR Pride Centre. The settlement allows both organizations to move forward, avoiding further legal proceedings and enabling UR Pride to focus its resources on serving the campus community.
URSU has since been disbanded and has been replaced with URSA (University of Regina Students’ Association).
