Wear your heart on your sleeve, or maybe just a really cool button from the UR Pride Centre. Volunteers are currently needed to help create interesting and thought provoking buttons. If you have a talent for button making, a slogan that needs to be heard, or a desire to become a button making master, come down to the UR Pride Lounge every third Tuesday of the month for some serious button business.
The Snug-up Squad is a team of community members who have an interest in inclusive sexual health! SUS is centered around a monthly meeting, where members assemble safer sex packages for distribution through Q Nightclub and Lounge, and the UR Pride Centre. In addition to distributing safer sex supplies to Queer and Trans* communities in Regina, The Snug-up Squad hopes to offer members an opportunity to engage in various skill-sharing opportunities and public awareness initiatives. So if you have a skill you would like to share, or have something you would be interested in learning about, or for more information, email Jeff (Outreach Coordinator) at email@example.com. You can also join The Snug-up Squad on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/947467028613225/.
When: Every second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., and additional scheduled times.
Where: Gay and Lesbian Club of Regina (Q Nightclub and Lounge) 2070 Broad Street.
The UR Pride event “Fun and Games” was such a hit during Queen City Pride that we are planning another game of Capture the Flag at Les Sherman Park (Princess and 15th). We will be meeting in the open field behind the Neil Balkwill Centre this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. UR Pride will be providing the flags, but we‘re asking participants to bring both a black and white t-shirt to act as jerseys. If you don’t have a black or white t-shirt, let us know and we’ll bring extras. Other than that, you’re responsible for bringing any other items you think you may need: water, running shoes, sunscreen, bug spray. etc.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Join the Facebook event!
Moose Jaw Pride is from May 14th – 20th this year! There are a ton of exciting events happening! Check out Moose Jaw Pride for a full list of events!
If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, you can do so online here or stop by the UR Pride Centre (Riddell 225). Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door!
These folks say it’s #time4rights in Saskatchewan!
Time 4 Rights is a campaign that promotes the inclusion of “gender identity” and “gender expression” in the Saskatchewan Human Rights code.
Time4Rights is a social media campaign started by the Gender Equality Society of Saskatchewan. GESS advocates for the rights of transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, and two-spirit people in the province of Saskatchewan.
We are asking the Government of Saskatchewan to provide explicit human rights protection by including the terms “gender identity,” and “gender expression” to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code as categories of discrimination. You can support our efforts by uploading a Selfie of you supporting trans* rights. Don’t forget, our theme is #time4rights, so be creative with your pictures, add clocks, hourglasses, or anything by which you interpret Time. Upload your Selfie here, or find us at:
@time4rights @GordWyant @PremierBradWall @[yourMLA] #Time4Rights #TransRights #[yourTownName] #Saskatchewan #SkPoli
We also have a letter writing campaign. If you are not the type for self portraits, try writing a letter to Premier Brad Wall, Justice Minister Gordon Wyant, or your MLA asking for their support of trans* rights in Saskatchewan. Or if you are really ambitious, set up a letter writing event in your community.
You can find more information at www.Time4Rights.ca or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
